Depending on topics of interest and preferred frequency and format for connecting, we plan to use this event as a starting point for a WIL community of practice (CoP) to provide on-going and collaborative support for those teaching in this space.
The second part in this series (date TBC) will be ‘How will you do WIL?’ with a focus on Macquarie’s new WIL policy. Macquarie has defined full WIL units and embedded WIL units. Both types of WIL integrate an activity (e.g., an internship, a project, fieldwork or a simulation) that enables students to apply theory in practice, involves 2-way interaction with partners and is aligned with authentic assessment. Full and embedded WIL are distinguished by the level of interaction with partners (at least one hour for embedded WIL and at least 35 hours for full WIL).
